Weapon SS2 V1

Pindad Launches New Weapon Type V1 SS2BANDUNG-MIOL: PT Pindad, Indonesia's manufacturing industry company engaged in the field of military and commercial products, this year launched a new product in the form of military equipment or a shotgun type weapon SS2 V1 for military purposes.
"Now a work in progress, hopefully this year had to be used by members of the TNI in the purposes of its operations," said Head of Public Relations of PT Pindad Timbul Sitompul told Reuters in London, Wednesday.
He explained that the type of weapon SS2 V1 is a type of weapon that is lighter and lighter than similar weapons V1 SS1 type that has been produced in previous years.
He said the type of weapon caliber SS2 V1 was 5.56 x 45 m, with a barrel length of 460 mm, weight 32 kg and the total length of 930 mm.
"This type of weapon, as he had been directed by the Commander of the TNI a few months ago, will gradually replace existing weapons, especially weapons produced for a long time," he said.
Asked how many guns SS2 V1 will be produced in 2005, Arise said, depending on the size of the available budget, because right now there are budget incurred for the purposes of natural disaster in Banda Aceh and North Sumatra, so only 5000 is estimated to be minimal over the top.
In addition to new product SS2 weapons V1, in 2005 this Pindad produce other military equipment that had already been produced, such as bulletproof cars for police APR2 V1 is used as a patrol of 60 units and as many as two units watercannons used by police riot as a deterrent, he said.
For this type of bullet, Arise, said PT Pindad no longer produce small-caliber bullets, but will focus on large-caliber bullet, because the type of bullet is pretty much in demand and as long as it is still imported.
"This year's research and development (R & D) PT Pindad is being led to large-caliber bullets, because based on this type of order requested by the military and police," he said.
To produce military equipment and the Police, acknowledged that typically arise are still relying on orders from the Department of Defense, but to increase the production of military equipment until now there has been no careful planning so that PT Pindad still in the waiting order.
Therefore, he hoped to talk with the government and parliament to support military equipment domestically made products, which no doubt about its quality and not compete with similar products from other countries. (Ant/O-2)
